Purgatory

I’m still stitching my torn sails
My dull needles
Cobweb threads
“From this shore of castaways
No one leaves,”
One of them says
You wouldn’t like it here, my dear
These plastic fruits
Taste like fear
I dream only to trick reality
I draw shadows
For company
You wouldn’t like this purgatory
It’s halfway up
But halfway down
You never even mixed your drinks
You drank Coke
Or you drank rum
Death is just a vicious rumor
I remember when you said that
You didn’t know how right you were
Lonely people live through death.
