Inside

In the shade of your brow,
behind the velvet curtain
I've found a place to hide
when I am shieldless
and life is uncertain.
There I lied,
in chestnut circles,
riding out storms
and long earthquakes.
I've found a home,
I wasn't alone.
I pray you don't flood me
when I can't tame myself.
And I fear the waterfalls
would spit me out again.
I'll cling to your lashes
like a man overboard
grips a harness.
I refuse to drown
in poisonous salts.
Tonight I swear to my life
and promise low tides,
if you let me stay inside.
